Iran frees Washington Post reporter in US swap deal

DHAKA: Four Iranian-Americans, including Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian, have been freed in Iran in a prisoner swap deal.

Iranian and US officials said, reports Al Jazeera.

Rezaian, who was taken into custody in July 2014 and convicted on espionage charges last year, was to be flown to Switzerland along with former US Marine Amir Hekmati, pastor Saeed Abedini and Nosratollah Khosravi-Roodsari, US officials said.

But early Sunday morning in Tehran, the plane scheduled to take them out of the country had not taken off for unexplained reasons, Washington Post reported.

In return for the Americans, the US will pardon or drop charges against seven Iranians - six of whom are dual US-Iranian citizens - accused or convicted of violating US sanctions.

In addition, the US will drop Interpol ‘red notices’, essentially arrest warrants, on 14 Iranian fugitives it has sought, officials said.

US student Matthew Trevithick was released in Iran independently of the exchange on Saturday and has already left the country.

The swap came as diplomats gathered in Vienna to announce the lifting of international sanctions and bring the country of 80 million people back to the global economic stage.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced in Vienna that Tehran had complied with the requirements of a deal reached last year, under which it was to curb its nuclear program in return for the lifting of sanctions imposed by the United States, United Nations and European Union.

IS militants kidnap 400 civilians in Syria

DHAKA: Islamic State (IS) militants in Syria are said to have abducted 400 civilians during a bloody assault on the eastern city of Deir al-Zour.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition monitoring body, said people were taken from areas in the north-west of the city.

The report from the London-based group could not be independently verified, says the BBC.

At least 135 people were killed in the attack on Deir al-Zour, the Observatory reported earlier.

It said 85 of them were civilians and 50 were pro-government fighters.

Syrian state media put the toll even higher, saying about 300 civilians had died.

IS launched its attack with suicide bombers, followed by a ground assault.

Syrian government forces retaliated with air strikes and heavy artillery.

The Russian air force has been dropping humanitarian aid for civilians trapped in the city as well as reportedly carrying out air strikes in the vicinity.

The UN recently warned of ‘sharply deteriorating’ conditions in parts of Deir al-Zour, one of a number of towns under siege as a result of Syria’s five-year civil war.

যমজ সন্তান কখন হয়

একটি নিষিক্ত ডিম্বাণু প্রথমে দুইটি পৃথক কোষে বিভক্ত হয়। পরবর্তীতে প্রতিটি কোষ থেকে একেকটি শিশুর জন্ম হয়। এভাবেই অভিন্ন যমজ শিশুর (আইডেন্টিক্যাল টুইন) জন্ম হয়। এখানে দুটি কোষ যেহেতু পূর্বে একটি কোষ ছিল, তাই এদের সব জীন একই হয়ে থাকে। একারণে এরা দেখতে অভিন্ন হয় এবং একই লিঙ্গের হয়।

যেসব যমজ শিশু দেখতে অভিন্ন হয়, তারা আসলে ‘নন আইডেন্টিক্যাল টুইন’।

মায়ের দেহে সাধারণত একই সময়ে একটি মাত্র ডিম্বাণু দুটি ডিম্বাশয়ের যে কোনও একটি থেকে নির্গত হয়। যদি দুটি ডিম্বাশয় থেকেই একটি করে ডিম্বাণু একই সময়ে নির্গত হয়, তবে ওভ্যুলেশন পিরিয়ডে তার শরীরে মোট দুটি ডিম্বাণু থাকে। এসময় মিলন হলে পুরুষের শুক্রাণু উভয় ডিম্বাণুকেই নিষিক্ত করে। এভাবেই নন-আইডেন্টিক্যাল টুইন শিশুর জন্ম হয়। এসব শিশু সবসময় একই লিঙ্গের নাও হতে পারে এবং তারা দেখতে ভিন্ন হয়।

প্রতি ৬৫ জনে একজন মায়ের সাধারণ প্রক্রিয়াতেই দুটি যমজ সন্তান হতে পারে। মায়ের পরিবারে কেউ যমজ থেকে থাকলে এর সম্ভাবনা বেশি থাকে। প্রতি ১০,০০০ এ একজন মায়ের তিনটি যমজ সন্তান হতে পারে। চারটি যমজ সন্তান হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা সবচেয়ে কম। তবে বর্তমান সময়ে নিঃসন্তান দম্পতিদের চিকিৎসার অগ্রগতির কারণে যমজ সন্তান হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা বহুগুণে বেড়ে গেছে।

যমজ সন্তান হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা

• গর্ভধারণের শুরু থেকেই বেশি বেশি শরীর খারাপ লাগতে থাকলে

• গর্ভাবস্থায় পেটের আয়তন স্বাভাবিক নিয়মের তুলনায় বেশ বাড়লে

• পরিবারে কেউ যমজ থাকলে

• চিকিৎসার মাধ্যমে নিঃসন্তান মায়েরা যখন গর্ভধারণ করেন

গর্ভধারণের দুমাসের মাথায় আল্ট্রা সাউন্ড পরীক্ষায় যমজ সন্তান হবে কিনা নিশ্চিত হওয়া যায়। অভিন্ন যমজ কিনা তাও এসময় বলা যেতে পারে। না পারা গেলে পরবর্তী সময়ে আবার পরীক্ষা করিয়ে জেনে নেওয়া যায়।

আপনার গর্ভে যমজ সন্তান থাকলে অতিরিক্ত সতর্ক থাকা প্রয়োজন। কেননা যমজ শিশুর জটিলতা দেখা দেওয়ার সম্ভাবনা বেশি। বিশেষত অপরিপক্ক শিশু হওয়ার একটা আশংকা থেকেই যায়। অভিন্ন যমজ হলে ১৬ সপ্তাহের পর প্রতি ২-৩ সপ্তাহ অন্তর আল্ট্রাসাউন্ড করা ভাল, অভিন্ন না হলে ৪ সপ্তাহ অন্তর। যমজ সন্তান হলে সিজার করাটাই নিরাপদ। কিন্তু স্বাভাবিক উপায়ে সন্তানের জন্ম দিতে চাইলে ডাক্তারের পরামর্শ নিন।
