Sabira Sultana's passion for Nazrul Songs

DHAKA:  Being attracted by the variety, novelty and mellifluous uniqueness, Sabira Sultana developed a very special passion for Nazrul Giti (Sangeet) from her early age.

Born and raised in a culturally oriented family, Sabira Sultana's love for music began at an early age. Her beloved father used to wake her up every morning doing reyaaz (practice) which is sine qua non for preparing the voice.

When Sabira Sultana was a student of class four, she started learning music lesson. She also completed a two-year course in Nazrul Sangeet.

At the Nazrul Institute, she learnt a lot from many renowned veteran artistes at the institute.

In an exclusive interview, Sabira said, "I have performed as a singer in different TV channels, radios and stage programmes"

Her first music album titled "Nil Paharer Meye" was released from Fahim Music in 2005. The second music album titled "Megher Deshe Veshe Veshe" was launched from Impress Audio Vision Limited this year. Both the music albums consist of 12 modern songs.

On her taste about music, she said, "I remember, from childhood, my father inspired me with his immense passion for music. I used to sing song with different genres."

Sabira said, "It is necessary to promote and uphold Nazrul Sangeet in our country. I urge the government as well as musical organizations to work together for promoting Nazrul Sangeet to enrich Bangla music for the future generations."

"Nazrul songs should be made appealing to our next generation, so that the legacy of Nazrul Sangeet continues," she added. Alongside her brilliant appearance as a singer with different genres of songs, Sabira equally proved her talent as a composer as she writes many popular songs.

Her first music album "Nil Pharer Meye" contains 12 songs. The number of songs composed by Sabira Sultuta is five. She also wrote equal number of songs in her second album "Megher Deshe Veshe Veshe".

Sabira Sultana is also a promising writer in the Bangla literature. The number of her published books is 13. She also has special passion for composing songs and that she wants to continue it for the music lovers of the country.
